I realize I’m a bit off-topic here, making my return from vacation, but Sunday’s New York Times Westchester section (where I live) has an interesting piece about hyperlocal blogging, with mentions of New Jersey, Connecticut and Westchester County blogs that focus on local news, shopping and events. Although many blogs eventually die somewhat undignified deaths, eventually abandoned  by bloggers unable to keep up the pace, several have endured here in my neck of the woods. Since the Times mentions them, and I checked them out, I’ll provide links here. Polly Kreisman’s The Loop covers goings-on in the Larchmont/Mamaroneck/New Rochelle communities and is chock full of information. I also like Plumberry Jam, a strictly-shopping site that includes a mention of my friend Christina Doherty’s Cici Crib baby boutique in Armonk, N.Y. Style Observer is a sleek website that examines the ever-changing fashion shopping scene in Westchester. I’ll definitely bookmark these sites, which I hope to visit often.
